East Union Dollars for Scholars Scholarships are available only to seniors earning an East Union High School diploma.

Graduating High School Students who reside in the East Union Community School District in Afton, Iowa, can begin to create a profile at any time.  If you complete a Scholarship Profile on this site now, you may begin using the site to search for scholarship possibilities through Scholarship America.  Students please click here for detailed instructions on how to complete your profile.  If you have questions, contact Sarah Long at eastunion@dollarsforscholars.org or Shannon Harper at sharper4u@gmail.com.

Basic steps to the Application Process:

1. Create a login.  DO NOT use your school email address!!

2. Create your profile. You will complete information in each of the groups listed below.

  • Basic and Additional Information
  • School Info
  • Academic Info (GPA, Class Rank)
  • Supporting Material
    • Goals and Aspirations Essay: Write an essay detailing your plans as they relate to your educational and career objectives and future goals. We strongly suggest you type your essay in Word and paste it into your profile. We are looking for an introduction, supporting paragraphs and a conclusion. DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR NAME.
    • Unusual Circumstances Essay: This essay is not required, however if it pertains to you, please write an essay following the same expectations as the Goals and Aspirations essay that describes how and when any unusual family or personal circumstances have affected your achievement in school, work experience, or your participation in school and community activities. PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR NAME. 
  • Activities, Awards, Employment

3. Reference/Transcript Section > Counselor/Registrar Information

**You must complete the application, Transcript Request and Recommendation Request in order to be considered for a scholarship.**

After your profile is complete, you will receive a list of scholarship opportunities. Click APPLY to qualify for these scholarships on the list you receive.

Online Applications are open November 1, 2019 and due March 31, 2020 at midnight.  You may start creating your profile at any time.  After submitting, please check back in from time to time to see if additional scholarship matches have been added.

 

East Union Classes of 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 can begin to build your profile.

  1. Create an account.
  2. Please do not use your school email address.
  3. Build your profile by adding this year's activities, awards and employment.
  4. Continue to keep your profile up-to-date and when you are a senior you will be able to apply for scholarships!
